CMM/AmeriCorps Programs

Community Mediation Maryland supports the work of 18 Community Mediation Centers located throughout the state.  These centers provide free mediation services to assist in resolving neighborhood, family, business, land-lord tenant, organizational, and other interpersonal conflicts. Mediations is a process through which neutral mediators assist people in conflict to discuss the situation, gain clarity about each others needs, and develop solutions that meet the needs of everyone involved.

Use of AmeriCorps members helps Community Mediation Centers increase awareness of mediation and program capacity without excessive cost.  These challenging and rewarding positions are funded in part by the State and in part by the mediation centers. Persons taking AmeriCorps State positions may attend school or work while fulfilling their contract. Contracts are defined by a stated number of hours worked. They may be part time or full time.
